According to the VIPD, officers responded to a residence in the Estate Wintberg community shortly after 5:50 p.m. on Monday after the 911 Emergency Call Center received a report of an unresponsive man inside the home.
Upon entering the residence, officers discovered Anthony DeLugo suffering from what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the scene and confirmed that he had died. Authorities later identified the victim after notification of his next of kin.
The Virgin Islands Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau Major Crime Unit has assumed responsibility for the investigation and continues to process the scene, collect evidence, and interview potential witnesses. At this time, investigators have not released information regarding a possible motive, the circumstances leading to the shooting, or whether any suspects have been identified.
According to law enforcement, Anthony DeLugo’s death marks the 27th homicide recorded in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 2026 and the 13th homicide on the island of St. Thomas this year.
